Honestly didn't expect much based on previous reviews but they have figured out their cod plate. The breading was bite-through perfect! That level of crisp you get that still retains internal moisture of the fish, yes, that happened here. The Spicy tartar sauce is very spicy, but I loved that, and it was far better than the red cocktail sauce option for this dish. The coleslaw was chilled and balanced, the draft beer was some of the freshest I've had in the city, period. I don't usually chug beer, but it went down at nearly chugging speed.
Fries were good at first bite, but they don't stay crispy long so eat them fast. I didn't enjoy the full-on corn in the hush puppies or the taste, but to each their own.
The service was good, considering one waitress had to cover the entire facility on a busy evening. Despite meeting folks and putting my order in ten min after them, all our food came together and warm! Kudos! -

Abbreviated version, not a fan. I had been wanting to try this place for a while and honestly I was seriously disappointed. The food is a overpriced, the service was fine, they are terrible with adjusting food for the customer...they don't allow substitutions and the menu descriptions were off. For example, the coleslaw which they will not allow you to sub is described as creamy---is not, luckily I like spice but my lunch companion did not and the waitress nor the menu let us know there were jalepenos in the hushpuppies . The iced tea was the worst, I went for unsweetened because I thought their would be at least 3 options, it wasn't and the sweet tea was not brewed but some instant tasting mess (you can't do that in KY).
The food wasn't terrible, the prices and rigid menu were. I won't go back and will do not recommend. The parking lot was full but those people were going for BBQ or drinks at one of the places next door.
I don't think this place will last that long, however, maybe I'm wrong. But, I doubt it. -

Ok - like everything it's all relative to your personal taste but there are a few things at Hooked I absolutely love
The fried fish
And smoked shrimp
YES
On the fried fish - it may be the best in the city constant good fish
And definitely only place in town for the smoked shrimp I love this stuff. If you are not a smoke lover don't go there you will not like it
Their spicy tarter sauce is wonderful but needs to be a little more spicy but it's good
Slaw is great
Scallops are golden and delicious
Fish taco are good and can't go wrong on anything
Platter is great
I'm not fond of frog legs and I've not heard from anyone that I know how they are so try and let me know
All and all I've liked all that I have eaten there and Elizabeth and the wait staff are a hoot and do a great job -

Tried to eat here a couple Saturdays back. Walked in, found table, sat down. We waited. And waited. Then waited some more, probably upwards of 20 minutes. 12:30 on Saturday afternoon. One other table seated in restaurant. I finally got up and walked towards the counter area. Cook sees me from the kitchen and calls out " someone will be with you in a minute ".
Sat back down. Waited several more minutes,, no one comes.
We got up leave, chatting employees SEE us leaving. Not one word spoken by them.
WE SHALL NEVER RETURN. -

Excited to FINALLY stop by hooked on Frankfort. We do not have many fish places in Louisville that aren't super expensive, specially in this neighborhood.
I ordered the fish nuggets with fries and they did not disappoint. The amount of food you per order is well worth your buck. The fries were crispy and delicious W/ a resemblance of Rallys fries.
The fish nuggets were meaty, but the batter slightly salty. With that being said, you can tell it was quality fish they were made with.
Pro Tip: get a side of green beans, thanks to recommendation from waitress I gave that a try and LOVED IT.
Worth a try, specially during lent, or you know... anytime!
They also sell beeeeeeeeerrr
